Wallpaper is back (again), and it’s better than ever.

The wallpaper of today is all about making a statement. “It’s expressive, just like clothing or jewelry,” says interior designer Jaque Bethke. “Wallcoverings create interest and instant energy in any space.”

Phoenix Home + Garden recently showed off some local designers and their creations. Check out these examples of “Bold, Beautiful Wallpapers That Add Personality to Any Room. ”From dramatic prints to textured finishes, here are several ways these pretty parchments can add personality and color to your home.

Graffiti print

Designer Bethke used a graffiti print resembling the etchings in a girl’s notebook to transform a teen’s hideaway into an art form, with the goal of creating a fun and energetic space.

She used a wall of words to tie all the elements of the room together, speaking to both youth and the importance of living in the moment. Bethke advises those who are hesitant about using wallpaper to take the plunge, as all wall finishes have a lifespan and the investment in happiness is worth it.

Banana leaf wallpaper

Interior designer Emily Yeates used bright banana leaf wallpaper to bring a playful high-design element to a small powder room. The same iconic print lines the halls and coffee shop at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Yeates believes that wallpaper can transform a plain room, and the gold accents in the mirror and hardware add a touch of Hollywood glamour.

Favorite Floral

Bunny paintings

This one may be one of our all-time favorites! Interior designer Britany Simon wanted to create a colorful and bold nursery for a Phoenix couple’s infant daughter that could grow with the child. She sourced a playful print resembling a wall of bunny paintings by iconic artist Hunt Slonem to achieve the desired effect, resulting in a blend of childhood innocence and high style.

Pinstripes

The decorative material that adorned the walls of our childhood homes, creating a sense of warmth and comfort, for a while, became inextricably linked to memories of avocado-green refrigerators and Precious Moments figurines.
